RWS bocals are unique in that they are not manufactured in the traditional method of wrapping flat metal around a mandrel and soldering it closed. Instead, my bocals are machined from solid stock. I use a series of custom tapered reamers to create the bore and turn the outside of the body down with a lathe to create the proper depth of reed. This manufacturing process guarantees a true roundness of the bore and uniform thickness of body, much in the same way your instrument is manufactured. You'll never have to repair a broken seam, as my bocals have no seam to break!

Bocals are available in lengths 1, 2, and 3. Custom lengths can be made, as can custom bends. Building a specialized bocal to match your instrument is also possible. Contact Phil to find a time for this process.
